Flight Rising is a game and our website is a video game website. We expect content posted on our website to reflect this fact.

The purpose of this page is to give you an overview of our rules or policies and expand on some issues that have arisen over the years. This page is not a substitution for our Terms of Use or Rules & Policies, but a complementary article. Our rules and policies are based on previous forum moderation, account actions, and the ever-evolving nature of online communities.

In all cases, use of our website constitutes your agreement to abide by our Terms of Use and Rules & Policies.

TERMS OF USE | RULES & POLICIES

Overview

Do not break our Terms of Use as many are violations that can lead to immediate account closure.
Do not harass, threaten, or target other players or Flight Rising employees.
Do not post topics or content pertaining to account or forum penalties/Support decisions, Terms of Use, Rules & Policies, or Flight Rising employees.
Do not post topics or content pertaining to real-world religion or politics.
Do not spam our forums.
Do not use our forums for market research, non-Flight Rising polling, or job-hiring.
Do not scam other players.
Do not seek, offer, or post gore, pornography, obscene, or vulgar content.
Do not seek or offer medical advice; this includes but is not limited to mental health counseling, veterinary advice, dietary advice, etc.
Do not use our forums or site as a personal blog, diary, or other private journaling platform. ^{(May 26, 2022)}

Supplemental Clarifications

Do not post content that refers to, alludes to, or otherwise communicates:

Self-harm or suicide

We are not equipped to moderate such content. If you are experiencing suicidal ideation, please contact your medical provider, a trusted adult, emergency services, or contact your country’s national hotline.

To protect vulnerable members of our community, accounts found with a history of posting such content may be closed.

Referencing self-harm or suicidal ideation to appeal your account closure or to use the threat of such to compel a Flight Rising Support team member to re-open your account will result in your appeal being forfeit. ^{(May 26, 2022)}

Discussion of staff, rules, or policies

The Flight Rising website is our virtual office. It is our place of business and a place of employment. If a community member has feedback, a complaint, or a concern regarding an employee, rule, or policy, it must go through the proper channels—specifically Contact Us—to ensure our employees are able to continue to do their jobs free of harassment or targeting.

Do not broadcast, advertise, or otherwise highlight or call attention to your age.

OKAY: Mentioning in a discussion you’re in school, when you were last in school, events you remember experiencing, etc.

NOT OKAY:

“Hi! My name is [name] and I’m 13 years old/a minor!”
“PLEASE REMEMBER, I AM A MINOR”
“DNI. I AM A MINOR.”

We understand the impulse to post disclaimers and context about your interactions with others and to communicate that certain topics would be inappropriate to share or discuss with you in advance. The reason why we do not want our minor players to widely advertise their age group is for safe-guarding purposes. When you post disclaimers like the examples above, you are also broadcasting your age to people with malicious intent. This is compounded by an observed tendency of individuals to overshare about their living situations, their personal relationships, and their medical history on our site in general.

This is a case where the risks vastly outweigh the benefits to your experience online and we have found it necessary to formalize this issue in our Rules & Policies.

Remember that the following applies to your time on our site:

You are not obligated to interact with anyone.
You can block any player you don’t want to interact with at any time.
Topics inappropriate for adults to discuss with minors are already prohibited on our website.

If an adult player is reaching out to a minor player about something inappropriate or is offering to be a private shoulder, ear, or confidante in private messages based on information previously disclosed or shared, please report them to us through Contact Us right away. Forum moderation or account penalties

Forum moderation happens for a reason and Flight Rising Support issues account penalties based on information and data third-parties are not, per policy, privy to. For the privacy and security of all players involved, we will not discuss these matters with other players or on our site and do not allow them to be discussed on the site. If you wish to appeal forum moderation or an account penalty, please send our Support team a message through Contact Us.

Sexual fetishes or kinks

While this topic falls under our existing rules on Inappropriate Content & Conduct, it appears we need to clarify further.

To the adults (18+) in our community who post this type of content: What you (consenting adults) do in the privacy of your own home is your business—until you start posting about it on our site. When you post it on our site, you are doing so without our consent or the consent of any player—who may be as young as 13 years old—who visits your Clan page, forum thread, or dragon biography.

To the adolescents (13-17) in our community who post this type of content: We understand adolescence is a confusing time. We understand that you're exploring who you are as a person. For reasons relating to consent (see above) and your own online safety, please do not post or seek out this kind of content anywhere on our site.

Please keep in mind, you can’t be sure if the person who you’re commissioning that “NSFW” piece of art from or is commissioning you to create “NSFW” art is of age. If either party involved in a pornographic art commission turns out to be under the age of majority (NOT consent), both accounts will be closed and without the option for appeal.

The same penalty applies for seeking erotic role-play or erotic role-play partners on our site. If we find someone commissioned erotic art, or has agreed to or is participating in erotic role-play content, and one or both parties to the agreement is a minor, both accounts will be closed and without the option for appeal.
